Chef Mark Kolasa paid his dues – although some say he’s too young to have paid! Chef Mark has worked in the restaurant business and every job therein since graduating from the Cooking & Hospitality Institute of Chicago. Chef Mark helped open several restaurants for others when he decided it was time to open his own. He chose Michigan City because there was no restaurant here like the one he would create.

Finding the charming 1880’s house where Café Elite is located assured Mark he had made the right decision. Located near Lighthouse Place Outlet Mall, in a part of Michigan City that sorely lacked quality gastronomical choices, Café Elite & Catering opened in April of 2003.

Café Elite customers also know and appreciate Amanda Kosek. As Manager of Operations for the restaurant, she makes sure every diner’s experience is a pure delight. She and Mark work well together and share the same commitment to quality -- from the food, to the atmosphere, to the impeccable service each and every guest experiences.
